Smita began his career as a theatrical artist and did numerous Marathi plays such as Cottage No. 54, Sadhya Tari Shevat God, Shriman Yogi, London Chi Soon India Honeymoon, Baaoacha Baap, etc. She debuted in the film Marathi Naatigothi in 2006 and premiered in the National Award Winning drama film Jogwa – The Awakening (2009). Her first feature film was 72 Miles – Ek Pravas, directed by Rajiv Patil and produced by Bollywood actress and author Twinkle Khanna.
She also owns the Ringing Rain production company that produced, Saavat in 2019. On top of that, Smita has also appeared in a handful of movies like It’s Breaking News (2007), Deool (2011), Tukaram (2012), Candle March (2013), Mahaguru (2014), Singham Returns (2014), Laathi (2014), Noor (2017), Double Game (2018), Panga (2020), Sacred Games season 2 (2020) and Bittersweet (2020). She has also performed Marathi television serials like Anubandh (2009) and Ladachi Mi Lek Ga (2020).
