Verchere’s father Bruce is a diabetes researcher at the University of British Columbia while mother Cynthia is a pediatric plastic surgeon at BC Children’s Hospital.
He has a twin brother Toby Verchere and an older brother. Verchere and his twin brother became involved in acting because of their cousin.
Career
Verchere began his career in 2014 when he landed a voice role in the beloved animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
Over the years, Verchere went on to take on several recurring roles including Tommy Walters in Woody Woodpecker, Nathan Burgle in Fargo, and young Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor. In 2018, he appeared in the horror mystery film Summer of 84.
Verchere portrayed pivotal role of Tim Emmerson in feature film Turkey Hollow. The film is based on the Emmerson family heads to the quaint town of Turkey Hollow to visit Aunt Cly.
On 21 August 2018, it was announced that Verchere had been cast as Leo Borlock in the film adaptation of Jerry Spinelli’s young adult novel Stargirl. It was released on the Disney+ streaming service on 13 March 2020 and garnered critical acclaim. Verchere’s performance was praised by critics, with some noting that his ability to convey emotion and his heartfelt delivery truly brought the character of Leo to life.
In 2023, he starred alongside Scott Caan, Dania Ramirez and Ryan Broussard in the series Alert: Missing Persons Unit created by John Eisendrath and Jamie Foxx.
