Akira Armstrong is an American professional dancer and choreographer. She is best known for participating in the dance reality show Dance 100. She is among the eight contestants of the show hosted by Ally Love. Akira is the CEO/Founder of Pretty BIG Movement.
Who is Akira Armstrong?
Eight-year-old Akira, a Bronx, New York native, was passionate about dance and vocal training since childhood. She trained intensively at Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center and then went on to attend the Alvin Ailey School.
She has had the privilege to travel across the world with various dance companies. Akira even performed at the Cosmo Theater in Vienna, Austria.
An incredible opportunity arose for her when she made her debut as a principal dancer in Beyonce’s videos, Greenlight and Get Me Bodied. Things only got better from then; in 2008, Akira started her own dance company, Pretty BIG Movement, which focuses on plus size dancers and artists. In 2011, Salt-N-Pepa enlisted her as their personal makeup artist, allowing her to travel with them worldwide.

About The Dance 100
Netflix’s highly anticipated Dance 100 series is set to premiere on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 3 am ET/ 2 am CT. These dancers will battle it out for a grand prize of $100,000.
