Divya Dwivedi was born in Ranchi, Bihar to a middle-class Hindu family. Her journey into the entertainment world began in a daring way when she convinced a local radio station manager to let her read her poetry live alongside senior poets. Impressed by her enthusiasm, she got her chance, which led her to abandon her dream of becoming a doctor and dive headfirst into Indian film and television.
A versatile artist, Divyaa has showcased her acting prowess in films spanning various languages, from Hindi to Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, and her native Bhojpuri.
Her interest in comedy led her to join the experimental internet TV series “Jai Hindi” in 2009. On the show, she portrayed a satirical version of Savita Bhabi, using double-speak to criticize India’s political system and prevailing misogynistic culture.
In 2013, she married a Canadian and continued to maintain a bustling schedule with significant roles in films and notable TV serials in India. However, in March 2015, she made the decision to move to Canada to pursue both family life and career opportunities in the Canadian film and TV industries.
