Amara Valerio is an American Singer and Songwriter. She is one of the contestants of American Idol 23. The show is judged by Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. She is a former Yonkers Junior Idol and Yonkers Idol contestant. If successful, Amara will be the first Yonkers Idol to make it on American Idol.

Born in Yonkers, Amara Valerio is graduated from Yonkers Montessori Academy in 2020. She also attended Cornell University to pursue Bachelor of Arts in American Studies.

Career
Valerio performed Jazmine Sullivan’s “Bust Your Windows” during the audition of American Idol. She was “Kanye’d” while singing the National Anthem at her high school graduation ceremony. This infamous mishap quickly went viral and Katy, Luke and Lionel were filled with outrage after watching the incident unfold.
Valerio further shared that her own graduation the following year was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID shutdowns, preventing her from having an opportunity to redeem herself and sing the National Anthem for her own graduating class. ((Younkers Time)) ((Westchester News))
