Emma Busse is an American singer and songwriter. She came into limelight after participating in singing reality show American Idol. The show features judges like Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. She is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia.

Who is Emma Busse?

20-years old, Emma Busse is an aspiring singer who relocated to New York City to pursue her passion and make her dreams a reality. Her mother Rina, a classically trained singer and stage performer who teaches musical theatre in Burnaby, has been a driving influence in Emma’s musical journey.

Alongside singing, Busse has a fondness for ballet and theatre, and graduate from the American Music and Dramatic Academy with a degree in Musical Theater in May 2022.

Busse On American Idol

Busse earned the prestigious golden ticket of American Idol after her outstanding rendition of Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” The judges then asked her to sing “Happy Birthday” without vibrato and she managed to wow them with her talent, earning her three votes and entry into the Hollywood Week round of competition. Her big moment came in Las Vegas last September where she auditioned in front of the Idol judges.

Before the show

Busse had a brilliant performance in the talent competition at Notre Dame Regional Secondary School in 2020, singing Labrinth’s “Jealous”, which earned her an impressive response from one of the judges who expressed their admiration for her vibrato and said that she is a star with a bright future ahead.

Although she has not yet released any original music, Busse did make a beautiful cover of the song “Ceilings” by Lizza McAlpine on TikTok, saying “never have I related to a song so much.”

American Idol is back and better than ever for its twenty-first season! This sixth season since the show’s revival is hosted by Ryan Seacrest, with judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. The audition process has changed drastically due to Covid-19; this season has seen the introduction of the remote auditions that took place from August 3 to September 14, 2022.

In addition, the show brought back the “Platinum Ticket,” which gives three lucky contestants the chance to advance directly to Hollywood Week and pick their duet partners.
