McKayla Stacey is an American singer and songwriter. She is one of the 24 contestant of American Idol 21, judged by Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. She is daughter of American Idol season 6 contestant Phil Stacey. She is originally from Andover, Kansas.

Birth & Early Life

McKayla Stacey was born in 2006. She is currently 18 years old and pursuing studies at Andover Central High School.

She developed a passion for singing from a young age, as she comes from a family of singers and her father toured with a band as a country artist. From middle school onwards, she found herself steadily becoming more and more interested in music and the joys of performing.

Family

Stacey belongs to a musical family. Her father Phil Stacey first gained national attention on season 6 of the television talent show American Idol. He has recorded three albums titled, “Phil Stacey”, “Into the Light”, and “Faith.”

Her mother Kendra Stacey is an attorney at Triplett Woolf Garretson, LLC. She has an elder sister named Chloe.

Career

Following her father’s footsteps, Stacey auditioned for season 21 of American Idol. This is the second time she has been featured on the show. Sixteen years ago, Phil Stacey auditioned for season six of American Idol, even though it meant missing his daughter’s birth. Fortunately, he made it back to the hospital in time and captured her first moment on camera.

Stacey auditioned for the show in October and her father was able to accompany her to New Orleans. She shared her experience and said,

 “When I finally got to sing in front of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan — who are all amazing artists — I didn’t realize how nerve-racking it would really be, I didn’t think through it,” she said. “But they were super kind, the show was really kind to me, it was just a really good experience overall.” ((Kansas))
