Tyson Venegas is a Filipino-Canadian singer and songwriter. He is best known for participating in singing reality show American Idol season 21. In 2020, Venegas was part of the second season of “The Voice Teens Philippines” as a member of Team apl.de.ap. However, he had to withdraw from the competition before the Knockouts stage.
Birth & Early Life
Tyson Venegas was born on August 31, 2005 to a Filipino family. He is currently 19 years old. His father’s name is Paul Venegas and mother’s name is Iris Samson.
Venegas suffered from Speech Delay as a child, he attended music classes. Through hard work and dedication, he was able to overcome his disability and developed a passion for singing. This led him to the music school of Boris Buriev, where he honed his skills.
Career
Venegas started his musical career by participating in the Filipino version of The Voice Teens in 2020 when he was just 14 years old. He sang ‘A change is gonna come’ at the blind audition on the show.
His performance left the judges and audience mesmerized and its video on YouTube has crossed over 1.5 million. He didn’t make it to the final as he had to drop out due to COVID restrictions.
In 2023, Venegas became the first person to receive a Platinum ticket on the 21st season of the long-running musical competition show “American Idol.” His Las Vegas audition was a beautiful rendition of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” on the piano, and it earned him a standing ovation from Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan – the three judges of the show.
Richie was in disbelief that Tyson Venegas was only 17 years old yet sounded like a seasoned 45-year-old musician. Lionel then asked the Filipino-Canadian teen to invite his mother Iris to join them on stage and witness the impressive performance. ((Philstar))
