Arunabh Kumar was born on 16 November 1982 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. His parents wanted Arunabh to get a better education and moved to another city to do so. They moved to 7-8 cities and then settled in Jaipur, Rajasthan. In Jaipur, he studied at the Vidyashram school of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. After that, he went to Takada to study for the IIT JEE. He passed this exam and got admission in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur to pursue graduation in B. Tech (Electrical Engineering).

Career
After completing his IIT, Arunabh Kumar started his career in 2006 as a research assistant in the United States Air Force. He didn’t like the job and quit. After leaving his job as an engineer, Arnab joined Chilly’s Entertainment in 2017 as his assistant director Red He. There, his job responsibilities included assisting with all tasks on and off the road, from walking around to creating prints.
Arunabh was also the assistant director of Farah Khan’s film ‘Om Shanti Om’ starring Shah Rukh Khan. After this project, he had difficulty finding a permanent job to pay his bills. He tried his best to launch his filmmaking career, but after three years of struggling went bankrupt. So he started shooting small AV and corporate videos for construction companies and advertising agencies. This gave him a steady income, but he tried his hand at filmmaking again. Arunabh considered starting his own TV show, The Engineer’s Diary, and sent a proposal to MTV. The broadcaster rejected the offer, which led him to consider going online via his YouTube. He once talked about that rejection and how he started creating his own TV show.
In 2019, Arunabh co-founded and is CEO of Indusverse with Alok Sharma and Saumin Patel. This company is dedicated to producing comics that address current issues in society.

Arunabh met Shruti Ranjan at IIT Bombay in 2013, where he completed his master’s degree in environmental science. The duo dated each other for a long time. They got engaged in April 2020, but the wedding was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The couple got married in a private ceremony on 24 May 2022.
