Suchana Seth is the CEO of Mindful AI Lab who hails from Chennai. She founded the Mindful Al Lab company in 2020. Personal Life

Suchana married Venkat Raman in 2010, however, the marriage ended in divorce in 2020. Together they have a child who was born in 2019, whose name has not been disclosed.

Education Qualification

Suchana Seth attended DAV Girls Senior Secondary School in Gopalpuram, Chennai. During her time there, she was active in various activities, serving as House Captain and Cultural Secretary. She excelled in quizzing, debates, creative writing, and art, winning prizes in these areas. In the 10th standard, she received CBSE Merit Certificates in Sanskrit, Social Science, and English and also won the National Talent Search Scholarship.

After school, she pursued a B.Sc. in Physics (Honours) with additional subjects in Mathematics and Computer Science at Bhawanipur Education Society College in Kolkata from 2003 to 2006, graduating with first-class honours. During college, she participated in quiz activities.

Following her undergraduate studies, Suchana completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Sanskrit, achieving First Rank, at Ramakrishna Mission Institute Of Culture from 2005 to 2008.

Subsequently, she pursued an M.Sc. in Physics, specializing in Plasma Physics with Astrophysics, at the University of Calcutta from 2006 to 2008, again earning a First Class grade.

In addition to her formal education, she undertook courses at NIIT, obtaining certificates in Digital Printing and publishing and Digital Web Authoring with expertise in visual communication concepts, MS Office, web design, and multimedia techniques in Photoshop from 2004 to 2005.

Career

Suchana Seth began her professional journey as a Research Fellow at the Raman Research Institute in Bangalore from 2008 to 2011. During this time, she applied statistical mechanics to solve problems in Polymer Physics, using programming languages like C/C++. She also participated in conferences and schools focusing on Statistical Physics to expand her knowledge.

Following this, she worked as a Freelance Editor at Cactus Communications from 2011 to 2012. Her responsibilities involved editing scientific manuscripts in various fields such as Physics, Statistics, Geophysics, and Electronics to enhance clarity, accuracy, and presentation of ideas.

From 2012 to 2012, Suchana served as a Senior Analyst of statistics at Geschickten Biosciences (now InterpretOmics). Here, she utilized data mining techniques like association rules, clustering methods, and principal component analysis to explore connections between protein binding data and gene expression data.

She also developed scripts in R for data quality assessment, cleaning, exploratory analysis, visualization, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis. Moreover, she conducted training sessions for colleagues in using R programming.

Moving forward, Suchana joined as an Analytics Consultant, later promoted to Senior Analytics Consultant, from November 2012 to November 2014. During her tenure, she designed, prototyped, and deployed a real-time recommendation engine using text mining and machine learning techniques.

Her work involved applying text mining and natural language processing techniques to customer interaction data. She also used machine learning models on click-stream data to predict customer behaviour and optimize engagement. Notably, she filed two provisional patents in text mining and natural language processing areas.

Continuing her career, she became a Senior Data Scientist at Boomerang Commerce from December 2014 to March 2016. Here, her focus was on designing data-driven products for price optimization and intelligence.

Suchana was then selected as a Ford – Mozilla Open Web Fellow at the Data & Society Research Institute from September 2016 to 2017. Her role was centred around addressing data ethics challenges in real-world scenarios.

Subsequently, she engaged with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, starting as a Fellow from September 2017 to August 2018, followed by an Affiliate role from September 2018 to August 2019. Her work primarily focused on the ethics and governance of Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing responsible machine learning.

Currently, Suchana is the Founder of The Mindful AI Lab, a position she has held since 2020. In this role, she directs the lab’s efforts, presumably focusing on mindful and ethical AI development.

Controversy

This is a distressing incident involving Suchana Seth. After checking into a rented apartment in North Goa with her son, she left for Bengaluru by taxi, despite suggestions to take a more cost-effective flight. When the staff went to clean the room after her departure, they discovered blood stains on a towel and noticed her son was missing and she had an unusually heavy bag. Concerned, they contacted the police.

When questioned about the blood stains and her son’s whereabouts, Suchana explained the stains were due to her monthly period and claimed her son was with a friend in Margao town. However, investigations revealed the address she provided was false. The police traced her taxi journey and, upon reaching Chitradurga district in Karnataka, discovered the child’s body in her bag.

Authorities obtained a transit remand to bring Suchana back to Goa after this tragic discovery in Chitradurga.
