• Sukhdool Singh, an A-category gangster, also came from Punjab’s Moga and had previously escaped to Canada. He was linked to Khalistani supporter Arshdeep Singh, also known as Arsh Dala.

• In 2017, Sukhdool Singh, known as Sukha Dunuke, managed to obtain a passport and police clearance certificate using forged documents to flee to Canada, despite having 18 criminal cases registered against him in Punjab.

• Sukhdool Singh’s killing occurred during a period of escalating diplomatic tensions between India and Canada following the assassination of another Khalistani terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Surrey, British Columbia. Nijjar, who was wanted in India, was fatally shot outside a gurdwara in June.
