Meet Kaylin Hedges, American Idol’s Platinum Ticket Winner

Kaylin Hedges is an American singer and songwriter. She has participated as a contestant in season 21 of American Idol. She is originally from Pound Ridge, New York.

Birth & Early Life

Kaylin Hedges was born in 2008 in New York. She is only 16 years old. Kaylin’s father Jeffrey Hedges is serving in Amry. Her mother’s name is Hailey.

Hedges is a high school student in New York and discovered her love for music at a young age. At the age of 6, she started performing on stage as a sheep in a regional theatre production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”

Career

Hedges featured in talent show American Idol season 21, judged by Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Joined by an acoustic guitarist, Hedges covered Lonestar’s “Already There” in honor of her father.

Hedges put on an amazing performance of the six-week number chart-topper, and the judges gave her a standing ovation in recognition. She shared that her father had made a sacrifice to ensure she could go to school in New York.

“And then my dad came home one day and was like ‘I got a way that we can get there,’ but that means I have to deploy. It was really scary because he had to deploy to like dangerous places in order for me to be able to pursue music in New York, where I got to do all these school musicals and plays and stuff, but he did and we got there,”

Sadly, her father was absent for a number of important life events due to his prolonged deployment.

 “I don’t get to see my dad very often physically, like in person. He’s had to miss a lot of things… He has missed my birthday nine years in a row. It can be hard, but it’s okay. He’s coming back next year, so, it’ll be okay,”
