Raima Sen was born on 7 November 1979 in Mumbai Maharashtra. She was born to famous actress Moon Moon Sen and Bharat Dev Varma. She is the granddaughter of Suchitra Sen who of considered as the ace of Bengali film industry. Raima has a royal background with her father being the member of the Tripura Royal Family and her Great Aunt being the Maharani of Jaipur.
Though her name on official documents is Raima Dev Varma, onscreen she goes with the name of Raima Sen, taking after her mother’s maiden name. She completed her schooling from the Loreto schools in Kolkata and went ahead to complete her graduation from Rani Birla Girls’ College under Calcutta University.

Career
Her acting debut was alongside Shabana Azmi in the film Godmother in 1999 which was a huge success. However, Raima’s talented was somewhat dimmed by the presence of legendary Shabana Azmi in the movie. Later, she worked alongside Raveena Tondon in Daman where her performance was appreciated.
Her major break came through her role in the Bengali film Chokher Bali in 2003 with Aishwarya Rai as her co-star. She rose to fame among audience and critics alike with the blockbuster movie Parineeta in 2005. After that she appeared in several Bollywood movies like Dus, Kuch Dil Ne Kaha, 99.9 FM, Yatra, Vodka Diaries, etc. Her popularity and demand in the Bengali film industry increased and she was seen in films like The Bong Connection, The Japanese Wife, Sitara, Anuranan, Shakti, Khela, Notobor Notout, etc.
