Purab Kohli is an Indian television and film actor, model, and former video jockey. He is best known for portraying Akarsh in Hotstar web series Out of Love and its sequel Out of Love 2.He started his career in 1998 with the television show Hip Hip Hurray which got aired on Zee TV. Purab got the most recognition from the audience for video jockeying on Channel V.

Purab Kohli was born on 23 February 1979 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh to a Hindu family. His father Harsh Kohli is a hotelier and a film producer while his mother is a corporate trainer. Purab started his career in the year 1998 with the television show Hip Hip Hurray. He got immense popularity by being a VJ for Channel V. Later he hosted a travel show wherein he toured India on a budge. He was also the part of popular TV fantasy sitcom Shararat (2005). He also anchored the popular TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Terra Quiz for the National Geographic Channel.

Films

Purab made his Bollywood debut with the movie Bus Yuhin in the year 2003, where he starred opposite Nandita Das. He also appeared in popular movies such as Supari (2003), 13th Floor (2005), My Brother Nikil (2005) etc. He also starred in an antagonistic role in Mahesh Bhatt’s films Woh Lambe (2006) and Awarapan (2007). Purab has also acted opposite Farhan Akhtar in the movie Rock On in 2008, where he got a special jury mention in the Filmfare awards.

Purab has appeared in web series such as the Voot’s web series, It’s Not That Simple (2018) starring alongside Swara Bhaskar.
