Dalip Tahil was born on 30 October 1952 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Her father’s name is Ghansham Jethanand Tahilramani, who served for Indian Air Force. He did his schooling at Sherwood College and attended the Aligarh Muslim University. He graduated from the Collège St. Xavier. And after finishing his studies, he switched to acting and began his career. In his school years, Dalip was keenly interested in sports and played on cricket, hockey, and football teams.

Career
Dalip began his career with the movie Ankur in the year 1974. In 1980, Ramesh Sippy portrayed him as a villain in his epic production Shaan. He directed a Sindhi Paarewari film in 2004 and a Punjabi movie Sajna Ve Sajna in 2007. He made his debut in the English films The Deceivers and The Perfect Murder (1988).
His Hindi television debut is with the serial Buniyaad in the year 1986. He has performed in UK TV series like Bombay Blue, East Enders in 2003, Nuclear Secrets in 2007, etc. Talip went on to play King Dasaratha in the Indian television series Siya Ke Ram, which aired on Star Plus in 2015-16.
In 1969, Dalip set a record for winning the Kendall Cup on three occasions; one for his part as Josephine in the play My Three Angels, the second for his performance as Macbeth in the play Macbeth, and next for third play. In 1994, he published his music book Raazi Ki Baaten. He appeared with A.R Rahman in the world tour of Rahman’s musical Bombay Dreams. In 2017, he produced a live-action film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, released in the English language and dubbed in the Hindi language.
