Gauhar started her career with modelling for many famous designers like Manish Malhotra, Ritu Kumar, Payal Jain and Neeta Lulla. Her debut film was Miss India: The Mystery in 2003 and TV debut was Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2009. In 2015 she debuted in Punjabi Film Oh Yaara Ainvayi Lut Gyaan. She also did many commercial ads in TV such as Ford Ikon, Bajaj Auto, Opel Car and Tanishq Jewellery.
She also appeared in many album music such as Hawa Mein Udati Jaaye by Bombay Vikings. She also did item numbers like Jhalla Walla and Chokra Jawaan in film Ishaqzaade. In 2012, she participate in television reality show Big Boss 7 as contestant and won the show. she also participated in stunt show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi season 5.
