Because of her father, her spirituality always inclined towards Hinduism. She also believes in Buddhist spirituality. Lisa grew up in Etobicoke and several times she visit Calcutta with her father. After completing her education Lisa Ray came to Mumbai and starts working as a model. The first time she was seen on television in a commercial advertisement for Bombay Dyeing, wearing a high-cut black swimsuit in 1990. Later she was seen in some advertisements.
After spending some time in the Mumbai-based industry, Lisa returned back to Canada for completing studies in journalism at the university. In 1996, Lisa continues their career in the Indian industry. She debut in Bollywood in 2001 with the Hindi film Kasoor, opposite Aftab Shivdasani in this film Lisa’s voice actually dubbed by Divya Dutta because she could not speak in Hindi. Just after that, she was seen in Bollywood films like Bollywood/Hollywood, Ball & Chain, Water, Seeking Fear and many more.
Lisa most memorable performance was seen in the 2005 release film “Water”. This was an Indian Canadian film and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. She was also nominated for best actress in OSCOR. Lisa Ray also worked in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films. She starts a career in acting with the Tamil film Nethaji (1996) in which she played the role of Priya. In 2002, she debut in a Telugu film with Takkari Donga.
