Suchitra Pillai was born on 27th August 1970 in Ernakulam, Kerela. Her mother’s name is Nicky Pillai. Suchitra has one younger sister. Suchitra married Lars Kjeldsen, an engineer from Denmark in 2005. The couple have a daughter named Annika. Suchitra was married to Pawan Malik from 1991-1998.

Suchitra attended St. Joseph’s Convent High School in Mumbai. She has a degree in electronic engineering. She pursued a course in TV studio production in London.

Films

Suchitra started her career as a model and did few modelling assignments before she shifted to London. She got her first role in a French movie Le prix d’une femme in 1993. She worked in an English film Guru in Seven in 1998. Her first Hindi film was Everybody Says I’m Fine in 2001. Suchitra has worked in several Bollywood films and is recognised for her role of Priya in Dil Chahta Hai, Michelle in Laagi Chunri Mein Daag, Avantika Sarin in Fashion. She has worked in a couple Malayalam films Oppam and Cold Case. In 2016, she acted in a Hollywood film The Other Side of the Door. She won the Best Actress award at The Long Island International Film Festival and The Milan International Filmmakers Festival in 2017 for her role of Roopa Kumar in American drama film The Valley.

Suchitra made her tv debut in 1997 with her special appearance in an episode of Ghar Jamai. She has played notable roles in several tv shows like Hip Hip Hooray, Pradhan Mantri, Koi Dil Mein Hai, Beintehaa, Ek Shringaar-Swabhiman.
