Susmita started her career as a model and featured in several television commercials. In 2012, she made her television debut with Bengali show Bodhu Kon Alo Laaglo Chokhe as Malobika Dutta (aka. Mishtu). Later she was seen in prominent character in TV shows Raage Anuraage, Mon Niye Kachakachi, Agnijal. In 2020, she got opportunity to play lead role in show Aparjita Appu. The family drama stars popular actor Rohaan Bhattacharya.
