Joshua Vacanti was born in Lockport, New York. At the age of 8 years, he suffered with severe and chronic asthma, which often kept him hospitalized. His weight kept on increasing due to the use of prescribed steroids and became 300 pounds at his heaviest. He was often teased in school due to his size but he found community in choir, in this odd situation. Vacanti later started taking training in music. He rose to fame in 2021 with the television show The Voice. In this show, he appeared as a contestant.
