Career
Qureshi began his career with the formation of his world music group Surya in 1986-87. He has appeared as an artist on the album Global Drum Project, Remember Shakti, Masters of Percussion, and Summit. Qureshi plays an array of percussion instruments like djembe, duff, bongos, and batajon. He is the first artist to have created a unique rhythmic terminology to fit the tabla syllables to the African drum called djembé.
